Mikhail receives invitation to create a new opera in the 2022/23 Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab

Mikhail Johnson was one of 6 composers -librettist teams invited to Seattle Opera to create a new opera that will tell compelling, resonant stories through vocal music. Each team will develop a 20-minute operas throughout the season that are presented in a concert format for a public audience. Each opera undergoes a development process that includes a table reading, music workshop, and rehearsal prior to the public performance. The participants receive support from professional composers and librettists as they develop their work.

We are thrilled to present this year’s performances of the Jane Lang Davis Creation Lab. These performances will feature six new 20-minute works by composer and librettist teams as the culmination of a multi-month development project.
